ICIEA2021 Special Session on Dynamic Modeling, Stability, and Control of Power Electronics Dominated Power System
Session Organizers: Yang Han, Amr Salah, Jiawei Chen, Xin Zhao, Yajuan Guan and Tao Huang
CALL FOR PAPERS
Modern power systems are influenced by the fast development of power electronic devices which play important roles in renewable energy sources integration, such as wind and solar energy integration, high-voltage DC (HVDC) transmission, energy storage systems, microgrid, and flexible AC transmission system (FACTS), etc. The penetration level of power electronics has a significant impact on the system inertia. Consequently, faster frequency dynamics in low inertia systems greatly influence the multi-time scale properties of power system operation and control. Moreover, with a high penetration level of power electronic devices, the power systems are vulnerable to the static and dynamic stability problems that may result in wide-area blackouts. In order to maintain stable operation of the power system, various inertia enhancement devices and techniques can be applied to the low inertial power system.
This Special Session aims to encourage both academic and industrial researchers to present their latest works on the advancement of dynamic modeling, stability analysis, and control of power electronics dominated power systems. The main topics of interest for this Special Session include, but not limited to:
• Analysis of the impacts of renewable energy integration on the power system operation.
• Control of AC and DC microgrids for dynamic stability improvement
• Energy storage system application for dynamic stability improvement.
• Advanced analysis and control approaches for the power electronic-dominated power system.
• Advanced control technology for power electronic converters in power systems.
